Help with paint colors, please.

This is my office at the animal hospital. This is where I do clerical stuff, interviews, performance reviews, clients do not come up here. Corporate is allowing for an update and part of that includes us doing some painting and such in the upstairs offices. I can also purchase a new desk from the suppliers but am limited to either a black or white desk, or just keep the one that is there. Carpet stays.

Here is the office currently. First a basic 2D layout. Windows face south/southeast so pretty bright. Desk needs to stay there as the ethernet is on that wall.

First question, paint. I am planning on a deep green. I can’t decide on an accent wall or the whole thing.

Mockup of accent wall, keep wood trim.

Or all walls green, keep wood trim.

Or green walls, dark grey trim?

Inspiration for that,

Or all green with white or cream trim?

I am not doing any animal art, the entire hospital has animal artwork everywhere so I’m going with art that speaks to the region. Appalahian mountain town that is the apple capital of the state.

That green would make me sick it is one of many greesns I dislike . Why not a more yellow green like the fabric in the pic on the right .

Love the green color in your inspiration photo. Have you considered using that on the shelf wall and a lightened shade of it for the other walls?

ETA: I also like the idea of using the green in the entire room, would keep the wood trim as is and add bamboo/woven wood shades to complement it.

Greens are tricky (actually, all colors are tricky). It's nice that someone is going to do the painting, but if you want to use a green you should sample before you tell them what color you want. Even if the sampling is on your own nickel it's a good idea because you're the one who will be living with it. What you're considering has the potential to be overwhelming and not pleasant in a small room. However, everyone has a favorite color and is inspired by different things, so if this speaks to you, go for it.

I totally agree with landscape art. Everywhere I worked I had a landscape across from my desk so that was what I saw when I looked up. Nature is very refreshing. If you go with a green close to what you're picturing I would choose a black desk. If you end up going with a lighter green then white might be better.

Why can't you use wifi - then you'll have more flexibility on desk location

Patricia, which green? The one in my mockup or the pic? The mockup green is just a basic green from the app, limited options. I haven’t chosen the actual green, yet. But I lean towards greens that go to the yellow as opposed to the blue spectrum. I have a bunch of samples from Sampilize on order so will choose the actual green once I get those. But I do want deep, dark green, no whimpy mint or sage. I have loved deep, dark green my entire life so won’t tire of it. At 57yo I want to finally have one room in my life that is MY actual favorite color.

Lynjen, I have thought of that but don’t want a minty shade if possible, so once I pick the actual green I will look at the lighter colors on that spectrum. If it looks cozy I’m all in.

Company uses specific software and desktop computers, so wireless is not an option, sigh.

This is the artwork for the wall across from the desk. I haven’t decided between the wording on the top or bottom.

For fun, I’m hanging this between the windows, the world famous Expedition BigFoot Museum is up the road ;)

Decoenthusiaste, I will add that color to my cart!
