Have a pretty metal grate made to cover the niche in a matte bronze or black to go with your FP hardware.

Paint the two plates above, in a color closely matching a brick of your choice. They will instantly disappear. You could buy 2-3 bottles of craft paint for a dollar or two each and mix the color you prefer.

Quite simply, get a large piece of art that you love and place it on the mantle, lean it against the wall, covering the hole. I do this and don’t even have a hole like yours! In the meanwhile…I would look for a place to match your brick so in the future you could fill the hole, or at least block it. But I would see this as a wonderful opportunity for art, and an interesting mantle display! (Pretty brick, by the way!)

This is a mirror I bought a few months ago. Any suggestions on a larger mirror I can put behind to offset it? er612, How did you add all the objects to my photos? That was really neat!!

Might just be personal preference but I would remove the current vases and add the plant that's currently on your TV stand.
