Here are a few options

None of the three choices you posted works with your stair railings, because the things are very far removed from “modern farmhouse.” I think a three-drawer chest in a mid-tone to dark warm wood would look great in that space. Chests of drawers can be transitional and bridge different styles. What you have now works fine, but it’s a bit casual for the stairs as well.

I too prefer what you have there now, but if you do want to change it up,

I think the examples with the 3 drawer chests look really nice as well.

I think the darker wood would look better and complement your balusters.

The black railings are not farmhouse, unless you want to go French country farmhouse.

I suggest more than one piece in that space.

This would be my favorite vignette, if you can manage a small settee. The ceramic vase you have now with the flowers, keep that for sure. Very farmhouse. I would prefer to a floor lamp because it takes up little space.

If you like the table lamp, then pair it with a smaller table, chair and art.

Because the space is small, I think a chair and a small table would be too much. I am trying to stay away from too dark options. How about this?

I would like to see your living room please . It also is alwys good to tell us the actual size of the space .To me what you have is pretty modern farmhouse to me but the stuff on the cabinet is the issue. Take it all off add the lamp and a cou[le of books or keep the pumpkin and be done . BTW the railing is in no way modern farmhouse so I need to see your living space please.

Beautiful home so inviting..mix of modern farmhouse and traditional…

The space is 46” wide and 33 deep. I’d like to keep it welcoming/cozy rather than too traditional. I didn’t realize this would be so tricky for me to choose.

The first pic is not photoshopped, that is the actual furniture there. I see many of you like that cabinet. Perhaps… what if I paint it white? It just seems all too dark of a setup as it is right now.

I think painting that piece white will make it look cheap. lighten up your styling of tbe top of it. Get a white lamp and remove the vase. Stack three coffee table type books with white and black jackets, hang a mid sized mirror.

I would prefer a 3 drawer chest there, as others have mentioned. The vase and lamp are too much together. One has to go. The black 3 drawer chest above would be my pick.
