Which room layout makes more sense

I have a very awkward room layout, and I am trying to improve it as much as possible within a budget.

2 layout plans, which one do you like? Thanks for your input!!

Layout 1: Pros: more usable space; Cons: 1) can only access to the top right bedroom through kitchen; 2)some people don't like jack and jill bathroom 3) left side bedroom looks smaller without including the hallway area

Layout 2: Pros: easy access to the bedroom, no more jack and jill, left side bedroom takes the left side hallway so looks bigger; Cons: 1) right side hallway takes a lot of space; 2) super long closet in the left side bedroom.

Hi. To start with….I don’t mind a jack and Jill when the sink is separated from the shower/toilet… there were so many arguments when our three kids shared a traditional bathroom. It would have been nice that one could shower and the others could have brushed their teeth! But I would put pocket doors on the jack and Jill for sure. I would also either eliminate one of the doors in the other bathroom or make them both pockets as well.

I voted for #2 because accessing a bedroom through the kitchen is bizarre (#1), and you're right, people don't like Jack and Jill bathrooms. Plus the shower in #1 looks really small. Is this a new build or a remodel? Have you considered engaging an architect to help you with this? Anytime you do a major reconfiguration they're the right person for the job.

it's a remodel, so we really don't have many choices here. :(

Looks like a bedroom loses a closet in option 2?

^I noticed the loss of the closet also, and therefore that room is no longer a bedroom. If you do not need it to be a bedroom, then #2 is a better option.
