Reducing a supply duct

We have a 6" supply duct going through a wall on our kitchen to the second floor from the basement. We are redoing our kitchen and need to remove the wall that houses the ducting. There is a wall that we can go through, but it's a 2x4 wall and the duct is 6" can I pit a reducer to run up the wall then back to a 6" once it's though the wall? Or is there another way I could do it.
