Do you grow any of the Rosemantics? I haven't heard of them before

I do. I have had the fuschia since March. What a fabulous rose. Zero disease and a great bloomer. It hasn't stopped blooming since it started. I heard that the pink is also a great bloomer.

They were new last year and both fuschia and pink are fab in Texas. I posted on both with pictures as they grew the first year if you are interested. BR

I got Rosemantic red from them in the fall of 2020. It does get blackspot in my garden and has somd defoliation, but this never seems to slow it down. In my garden it is 4-5 ft which is considerably larger than advertised.

They do seem to have added some roses that were offered in the past, but not available last year such as Ascot and Our Anniversary, but those are different from the promised 30 to new to them varieties.

I am keeping my eyes peeled for Emma Haftl.

As with trees and other shrubs heights given by commercial sources in particular for roses are often on the short side - when planning woody plant placement a body should always think in terms of the figure given being associated with a specific time span. For instance "5 ft. in 10 years" instead of "5 ft." by itself, which encourages thinking in terms of a fixed number. And situating plants like they were pieces of furniture, with unchanging proportions. With rose specific examples being the 'Climbing Mme. Cecile Brunner' near my former habitation that had been allowed to grow to the highest power line near a utility pole and progress sideways along that line for some distance afterward. However long it took it to do that. Or the original 'Kiftsgate' being 100 ft. across some years ago. And of course the famous Rosa banksiae in Arizona - in each case the routinely stated full dimensions attributed to each kind do not reflect already seen potential sizes.

I suspect some if not all 30+ roses come from a wholesale company, J.C. Bakker & Sons, in Ontario. Here's the excerpt from Palatine's Facebook post last November.

"We did not produce any Austin roses.

However!

We are considering adding the following:

Crown Princess Margareta

James Galway

Lichfield Angel

Munstead Wood

These roses are produced by J.C. Bakker & Sons in St. Catharines, ON. They produce their roses on multiflora and are strictly a wholesaler.

Once we have received their Austin plants and graded them we will add them to our regular website.

We anticipate that they will be added in the new year."

Thank you folks for sharing your pictures and experience with the rosemantic roses, they look absolutely lovely! My wish list is already too big for the space I have; I really must start becoming more selective but I just fall in love with so many of them! Are they fragrant?

Rose Padawan - well, that sounds very plausible. I'm hoping, though, that they have some more European roses (besides Austins). Thanks for the insight...I bet you're right. :)

@Kristine LeGault 8a pnw, it will blackspot, but shrugs it off with no loss of vigor. I have had to prop up some canes that threatened to fall over or break under the weight of all the blooms. it is a blooming machine in big clusters that never seem to stop.

Unfortunately @Meg-zone8aOR, it is not fragrant.

Markay, is your Rosematic not fragrant? They are advertised to be very fragrant. I better check mine out. This will involve some serious bending over. Wish me luck on getting back up

Which Tantau did they add? I missed it.

Yes, they took out some roses and added quite a few.

embothrium - I agree. I routinely ignore any size estimates on HMF, or in rose catalogs or books, or whatever. They all seem to be based on the size roses grow in England or the East Coast of the US. In my garden, most roses get 2-3 times larger, or more, than they are said to. Some climbers like Sombreuil and Mme Alfred Carriere and banksia lutea never stop growing - they all grew 3 stories + high in my garden, and would have gotten higher if there had been anything to climb on.
