Either keep it entirely clear as you have it now, or maybe do a grouping of some pottery off-center at the wall end. i would not put anything dead center. No fake flowers. Ever.

You have glass front cabinets. Do you plan on putting colored pottery or drinkware in them? Do you have a runner rug in the kitchen? If so, I'd carry those colors over to a trio of bowls off to the side of the countertop- see the bowl above. I like clear countertops but, I think those large empty countertops in that BEAUTIFUL kitchen just lack personality!

IMO fake plants or flowers never should enter your mind. I agree fresh flowers or a bowl of fruit that you actually eat the space is meant for a work area .

Agree with a simple fruit bowl or other container. We have a lemon tree so I often have some out. This time of year you could use mini pumpkins, pears, apples…simple.

Because we really use ours, ( and good luck training DH to not muck it up!)... I have a live orchid (which will soon go join the other orchids on my nesting table to await rebirth when I purchase another one) and a fruit bowl.

And then semi hidden are his pills and some mail. Real life.

I do think lots of the pictures are very attractive but I know how we live. Your mileage may vary.

Of course inspiration photos don’t usually show how every person lives, they’re just for decor ideas. Bathrooms don’t show curling irons left out, bedrooms don’t show the pile of clothes on the bed needing to be folded because your stupid laundry room is so small (but I’m not bitter!), etc.

Salon, I was trying to find an orchid picture, but oddly didn’t see one. That was my first thought because they’re so elegant.

(Our kitchen pile-up area is by our coffee maker. I need to pare it down today.)

I like the idea of three colorful jars next to the post on the right. Your kitchen is beautiful.

I use a huge cutting board (homemade with local oak) that I use every day for prep.

I’m a big fan of large hand made clay, ceramic or wood bowls. If you decide on using, suggest a unique style (in a way, a piece of art). It will be lovely on its own or not. I‘d choose low/large vs height, practical vs just decorative and catering to your ”earthy” stools.

Nothing on the counter,,,you want to have to move it every time you set a place)

How about doing something with the column?

A large decorative plate or platter displayed vertically on a plate stand would be nice at the end near the post. Use what you already have from your chinaware. Then it's always at the ready when you need to use it for serving.

I would probably add things that are decorative and useful. I like thinngs in 3's.

Some nice flowers or something along those lines (plant) In a pot or vase you like. I would then add a bowl of fruit and maybe a candle?

Yould just put them out without a tray beneath or if you like that idea, either would look nice!

You have an equisite kitchen!

You supposedely will eat there, so you should consider what you will use for that. On the end of our table we have salt and pepper shakers plus bowls for sugar and lactaid. You could also include a napkin holder. Spend the $$ to get elegant ones that you will enjoy every day.

Funny you should say that @Yvonne Martin. We have a decorative plate as well as a napkin holder and (gasp!) a box of tissues that I use all the time! But the tissue box is in a decorative cover.

Any thoughts on the ideas we’ve given you here, OP?

Thank you all for your help. I got distracted by other parts of the house; haven’t really had to think about it much. I’m feeling out the leaving it with nothing on it right now.
