Do you prefer a solid or a box-built mantel?

There are pros and cons over if you should choose a solid beam mantel or a box-built one.
A pro for choosing a solid mantel is its rich historical value, while the con being hard to install. On the other hand, a box-built will be easy to install, but does not have as much imbedded history.
