Sunroom window treatment

I have a small room in my new house where the majority of windows face south and west. The home is in Vermont so insulation is important, but clearly the sun in that room will be a problem. I can’t affird to spend a fortune onwindow treatments, but am really worried about controlling the sun and temperature. The glass is double-paned low-e. Cellular shades are always a good idea in Vermont but I would never want them down in the day. Solar shades seem like a good idea for the daytime but offer no insulating value. Privacy is not an issue in this room. Would a double shade with the outer one solar offer any insulating value? What about those sheer shades with the vanes in them? Note that I dislike zebra shades so this is not a consideration. Anyone have better ideas?
