Are these Nyssa sylvatica?

The foliage is such high quality late in the year and the red is glossy, almost fluid like

    I am not familiar with Nyssa, but I too immediately thought Pear.

    I'm thinking they look more like blackgum than pear, possibly 'Red Rage'(?)

    I was wondering about that also.


    So, I emailed the parks department and quite rapidly they reported its Nyssa sylvatica, blackgum.


    I also got ths back.

    They did not know if it was a particular cultivar.
