What's behind the tile for a waterproofing system?

How was the shower waterproofed? That's the most important thing.

I asked her about that and she sent me these pictures. She said he used cement boards in the tub area and aqua defense to waterproof it.

I didn't even think that waterproofing would be this critical with it being a tub and not the shower.

The work looks good and the price seems fair.

Finally, a tile job we can't find anything to complain/nitpick about! I'd hire this guy in a heartbeat.

Was the 2 month duration because he works slowly or because he was juggling multiple jobs? If the latter, I'd want to talk to him about that. I'd rather push out the start date till he can concentrate on my job, and then work solid on it to completion.

If the $15K price was for the entire remodel, materials included, that is a deal for what looks to be solid work. In my area it would be a bargain at twice (or three times) that price, but presumably you are not in a high cost area. I'd be willing to work with a longer project timeframe for a lower cost, as long as the final product was high quality.

That's a LOT of skilled tile work for that price. And COMPLICATED tile work - laid at 45, inlays, pencil tile, trim, etc - (not my taste)

But imagine you could be less with a more simple layout with a subway, etc and less tile up the walls, etc

I'm very impressed with the centering of the floor tiles, particularly the large diamond. Properly placed within the border. It's amazing how many people get this wrong. They start at one side instead of starting in the middle.
