I need to see the rest of the living space . I think the table is very small to be an actual dining table but it also seems to be limited by the spae . I like the light but not that table decor . I need to see the rest of the space to say anything about art .I love coffered ceilings to have a different color in the center but again I need to see the other space s. As it is I would do a blue ceining in the center .and either iron those chaire covers or remove them that look sloppy next to the rest of the decor.

Agree with Sabrina. Fab wallpaper and then a rug. I would also remove the tall feather thing and other accessories b/c I think they compete with your beautiful chandelier. Maybe just a simple low bowl. Lovely space.

The decorations on the table are for Halloween and not my usual, sorry about that. The table is 60 inches so substantial plus I have a 10 foot table in the kitchen. I really don’t use this room. Mainly for overflow when we entertain and to look pretty. The coffered ceiling in the adjoining living room is accented with revere pewter. Sorry about the chairs they are my old ones that I just had on hand

I would do the ceiling like your living room with the Revere Pewter add luxurious drapes on the windows and add artwork and call it a day. Beautiful home.

The light colored table and chairs aren't adding anything to the room. The chandelier is nice, but also blah in this space. So you're right, something needs to be jazzed up. You have gotten a lot of good suggestions. You just have to decide which way you want to go.

I don't mind the round table with the beading edge, but wish it were black. Your chairs are too shabby chic. Go with a more styled ones.

Drapes on the window?

I’m intrigued by HU…10’s suggestion of the gray and white ticking stripe wallpaper in the dining room panels. I think it would provide a casual french country vibe and distinguish the area as a cozy space. I also agree with cubby14 about painting the ceiling like the living room.

The problem in this room is that all the furnishings and lighting that have been selected blend into the walls.

If you want the walls to stay white then the table, chairs, and light fixture must contrast. If you keep the furnishings, then simply paint the walls. Update your drapery panels and hang them at the ceiling. The light fixture appears to be undersized for the room.

The monochromatic color scheme can work for a dining room but the furnishings selected have to be very sculptural in design and make a powerful statement.

Right now, the table looks overwhelmed sitting all by itself in a large room with such strong design statements.

I can’t tell the dimensions, is there room for a buffet or china cabinet? If so, I’d consider one of those, or even a bar cart, along with: different chairs (not as casual, and upholstered), a beautiful set of plush curtains, and a rug. This room needs softening and warming up.

If you had a buffet, you could have pretty lamps on it, maybe a plant, and other decor that would bring some life in the space. After some other changes, decide if you want art.

If changing the furniture is ever a consideration, I think a darker tone, and rectangular shape, would look wonderful in there … and would bring a nice balance.

Do you definitely want to use it as a dining room in light of all the other seating for meals that you have? It could be a lovely little sitting room.

The room is pretty much square so I’m concerned about a rectangular rug or table. I need to leave room for a walkway to the bar area. Minus the walkway space the room is about 10‘ x 10‘, may be a little bigger. It just looks big because of the 12 foot ceilings I also have a Buffet with lamps in the entryway and another formal living room which is right next to it so I thought another Buffet would be overkill. I have considered turning it into a wine room or study but it needs to look neat and clean at all times

A big red flag for me is that in its current form, you really only use this room to look pretty and for "overflow" when you entertain (like the kid's table?). If you use other existing space for formal dining, I'd consider making this a sitting room that could pull double duty - if you are entertaining/have a large party, you could always put an extra table/chairs in there, but for the other 300+ days of the year, you'd have a nice place to actually use somehow.

I say this as a fan of muted color schemes (and with love) - you need something other than white/beige/gray in this space. Even a patterned rug. From the photo of your living space, you obviously have good taste (it looks great) - maybe have some fun in this space with a bolder color?

Your home is beautiful! I agree that painting the ceiling with the pewter is an excellent idea and links the room subtly with the second picture of the sitting area you use.

I would raise the ceiling light high, so it lights the room over a greater area and you can walk under it; place the table in the corner towards the door with a beautiful, seasonal arrangement with a splash of color, remove chair so the beautiful table legs (!) are visible; and, place a plush bench/settee on the side wall to create a small reading nook/seating, with a small bookcase next to it. And a pair of ottomans in front of the windows. You have a lovely home…

I would paint the walls in that room Revere Pewter. Not the columns. There seems to be breaking points to end the Revere Pewter without going into other rooms. Keep ceiling as is.
