You have a charming English Cottage Style home, designed after those found in the Cotswolds. They were popular in the 1930s. Many have dark painted windows and trim. Some have wide shutters that could actually close over double windows like yours. The blue gable is not a typical color, nor are your white windows and trim. The stone is beautiful. And, at most, I might have it gently cleaned. I suggest you do some research on your home at your local historical society. There might be earlier photos of it. It is lovely! And would benefit from a period sympathetic update!

The stone does not need to be changed. The blue doesn't go very well with the stone. Pick a color from the stone to replace the blue (a light to medium neutral, taupish color) and paint the trim a warmer white to complement the stone, or a darker color for contrast. The front door would look better in a natural dark wood. Looks like you have done some work on the landscaping recently. I like it. Let's hope the painters don't trample it. :-)

yeah, I want that gable repainted a color that's taken from the tones in the stone -- I think that would make it all work better.

Paint the gable a color that works with the stone and the trim a warmer white. Add more flowers to your gardens. It's a sweet house and the stone was probably expensive --- don't wreck it with paint.

The pediment over the front door is not appropriate for this style of home and should be removed.

I like the colors that other have suggested. I would remove the pediment for a less colonial look.

Don't touch the stone. Hire a seasoned professional from the area that knows what they are doing and has experience. This is a charming house and the wrong moves will cost a lot in curb appeal and real estate value. A stone home like this is very desirable and not worth messing up. Sorry for my strong opinion. I have seen this sort of thing go very wrong in my hood. Good Luck

A new architecturally appropriate over door gable would make this home spectacular! Larger covering of entryway.

I think your pediment is likely original. Although my house is clapboard siding i have a similar style house and the original pediment is like yours. I do not love mine and have thought to replace it but i try and live by if the original features of my 1920s house function I keep them.

This is the type of home that inspired yours.

Note the appropriate gables. Dark trim. The copper canopy over the front door would look wonderful on your house.

Sherwin Williams has a great site where you can upload a picture and paint it different colors to your heart's content. If I were you, I'd try this to see which color you like best. I'm thinking a charcoal would be nice, but I like the other choices as well. Good luck with it all.

Actually, if you are going to choose a color, maybe you should have the stoned cleaned first so you can be absolutely sure of your palette.

The stone is pretty, just need a new accent color. I think you need something over the large front window - that whole front is a bit. You can do a cute front patio with a low stone wall. I would like to see some color on the front door.
