Haven’t done anything with this room other than fix the sky lights from leaking and just did the floors. I cannot figure out anything and it sounds stupid but the windows are what throws me off. Especially the one on the wall. Most of, the furniture is new (couch book shelf tv table) so changing those isn’t an option. What can I do though for the walls? Also you may not be able to see it but there’s a fixture wire hanging behind the fan. I like that this room is bright but I still want colors.

Step one. STORAGE you need storage and that off white shelving isnt helping you.

The window is just fine, mater of fact, its simple, architectural and not in the way. STOP thinking about it.

1. storage

2. the fan needs replaced, and you need overhead light. so if you dont need a fan, get a semi flush light fixture

3. an area rug

4. remove the decor from the window, just let it be.

5. remove the curtains from the french doors, if you need to block light get some sea grass blinds or curtains that mount over the windows. the curtains just add clutter here.

6. get a hall tree with storage. I also keep a basket by the door for misc shoes to get tossed into.

Hard because we just moved in. We don’t have a place for anything yet and it’s hard to feel like I can find a place when I can’t find even decide on paint. I can’t buy/paint more furniture if I can’t decide on a color or place for anything. It’s all thrown together in the mean time. Thank you for your response, next time I’ll clean up my toddlers mayhem first.

Also good pointers for kids stuff! My couch has storage in there maybe that and some bins will help organize that too. We have another living room and she has her room but I like to keep her in my sights. Ty btw

Your current paint color seems fine to me as it helps unify the angles of walls and ceiling. Maybe don’t stress about painting for now. I think a good starting place for you would be purchasing a large colorful area rug, then you could pull colors from it for other items in the room such as curtains, pillows, art. Nice floor :)

You need to get everything set up and storage before even thinking about paint. That is the last choice design wise. Upholstered furniture, rugs, tables etc. come first then paint. So don't stress on paint colors yet. Get moved in and organized

Treat that window that's way up there like a normal window measure how long you want the curtains brushing to the floor and put little past the width of the window and like 4 inches or 3 in from the ceiling

I'm tired of seeing TV's being mounted way high on the wall so thank you for the TV stand.

We have French doors with green blackout drapes but the rod is wide enough on each side to open them all the way without blocking any glass and they look good that way. You have room without covering the light switch.

I like our ceiling fan, we use it all the time, not a designer look but that's okay.

Pull the sectional out from the wall six inches. It looks cramped. Move the floor lamp to the other side of the sectional. Don't get any undersized furniture pieces in here.
