Window Coverings

We just moved to a new house and I can't decide what type of window coverings I want. Please help give me some ideas! Some options I have been considering - wooden blinds, solar shades (white or brown), a double solar shade (white & brown), a woven bamboo blind + a curtain or solar shades + curtain.
In an ideal world we would have an option to see out the windows but cut down on he UV light (we get very warm afternoon sun) AND have an option to have privacy at night.
Budget is a consideration, I love the look of Hunter Douglas and other fabric blinds but I don't like the $1500/window price tag.
The largest window is 94.25 x 75, the ceilings are 9 feet tall.
