What kind of doors are on the closet? Are they slider doors? If so, center the headboard of the bed on the wall without windows or doors and put nightstands on either side. If the nightstand gets in the way of the closet, shift the bed toward the window and get a larger 3-drawer dresser to act as a nightstand in that corner opposite the closet. If the carpet is staying, buy some new bed linens that go with it and paint (if you want to) based on the linens. You can always look for a 36" wide tall dresser to go in that space between the doors that you show as being 42" wide.

Make good use of the closet by adding drawers to the bottom and use up all that otherwise wasted space.
