Bookcase back

I painted the back of my bookcase but it looks like, well, baby poop! This 14' long red oak case is in my dining room, which is painted an asparagus green. I don't want to paint over the wood, just the back. Any ideas?

Thanks everyone! These were great ideas. I decided against the peacock blue when I put put a cushion of that color on the shelf. Ack! Then I hung different colors of clothing up. A celery linen skirt looked ok, so I painted the background plum passion (Valspar from Lowes) which is not plum but a light yellow green. Soooo much better than poop!

Try the blue from the lampshade or the same asparagus green as the rest of the dining room. I like the artichoke lamps.

Thx, apple pie, the lamp goes in the nursery, but I was wondering re a peacock blue?

Try the peacock blue on a piece of foamcore propped in the bookcase.

I think I have a room set picture that will help. Granted my green is a little more mossy but you can get an idea.

If you don't like the slate blue, get the paint card your green was from and go a couple of shades up or down to make it work together safely. Just wondering.......will it be books there or dishes or pretty pretties or what?

How about pretty fabric? Just liquid starch it in place and then switch it when you want.

Your dining room furniture is very contemporary so what about something like this pattern using wallpaper or a stencil design
