There is no timeless. Is this real wood, or LVP?

Floor color trends come and go - sometimes light, sometimes ebony, and anything in-between. I would go with something you love, in a tone that complements the style of your house.

Almost nothing is really timeless because styles and colors change so often. This seems somewhat neutral and can probably pick up a lot of warm tones to go with it for the decor in the rest of the space.

gonna be hard to let go becuase it looks so good with our decor. We had a pale beige floor sample and although it looked very good, it did not match as well as the one pictured.

Looks great to me. I grew up with this tone and it’s still hugely popular.

this was the alternative

We are not seeing your context but I definitely like the last option the best.

If it's the one you like, then go for it. Do you intend to change your decor every time a new magazine publishes a trend? Do you intend to repaint or decorate based on the color of the year each year? Unless you think your preferences will change in 3-5 years, go with what works with your style and taste now.

Hard to put a finger on trends; in order for money to be made, colors/tone seem to change every 5 years or so it seems.

The important thing is to like it and that the shade works well with your decor and home in general. (Either one will probably be ”dated” around the same timeframe.) If you can get a box of each to test (be sure you can return), which should provide you with a more robust vision.

IMO if it works with your stuff it is timeless for you. There truly is no such thing as timeless and BTW I happen to love gray and have no intention of not using it probably forever in my home with my stuff. I think warm colors are for some people and cool for others sort of like some like gold jewellery and some like platinum.
