It wouldn't be my choice because you basically make the bathtub pretty challenging to use and the cost is significantly more than a shower curtain, but if you don't take baths, don't have kids, and own the apartment, you can do what you want.

I didnt like the look of the curtain but I also felt like it looked weird without anything. Does this make sense?

IMO glass is just a pain and once you do it you can't undo it without replacing the tub because installing glass doors puts holes in the tub where they attach the doors. There are so many choices for curtains. Did you try to find one you liked first?

Do you have room for the doors to swing? We once stayed in a few rentals in England that the tubs had glass panels that were fixed on the shower head side… open on the other half. Seemed to work ok. I’d probably worry a bit about the water that happened to splash out myself. I found these pictures below online. I imagine the doors would need “sweeps” between the tub and glass door to help keep the water in. Do you have a glass installer to help you? Usually they can help with all the practical things… measurements, installation options etc.

Many people overseas would agree with a door versus a curtain. I think it is more what you’re used to.

You bought two? What kind? A fixed panel, or one that is hinged with a sweep on the bottom? These are quite common in Europe. You have to sort of angle the glass towards the interior of the tub to make sure that water is slightly directed more towards the tub than outside of the tub. It helps if your shower is pointed down towards the drain vs. against the end wall! I don’t understand how you will use two of them. One is usually installed at the head of the tub, closest to the controls. I like them. Some are a fixed panel with a hinge, and a smaller panel that swings in or out with a sweep on the bottom of it. Again, what did you purchase. In the absence of kids who might not position the glass properly, this could work very well for you.

It can potentially be easier and safer to enter and exit a tub from a sitting position, versus a standing position. This is accomplished by sitting on the tub ledge, swinging one’s legs around into the tub, and lowering down. Many people do not realize that this is really why the wider tub ledges are there to begin with. And some people, due to physical injury, etc., may at some time just need the extra room to be able to get in and out of the tub - even from a standing position (if they are able to stand). The sliding shower doors limit the entry and exit space available - and, hence, also limit the methods available for entry and exit. They are also considered to be restrictive by some people - in terms of narrowing the area and limiting freedom of movement. Shower curtains are more forgiving - less confining - and softer.

If you want more of an open view, you can alternatively just use a clear, plastic shower curtain.

But these are always personal choices; and it is ultimately about whatever works best for any given person, at any time.

Just make sure you can open it without hitting toilet, towel bar/ hook or sink.
