If you’re not set on blinds, you might want to consider cafe curtains. I particularly like sheers because of the way they soften the light. I think you could use a tension rod so no drilling would be necessary to install.

I agree! It would certainly lighten up that area. Or, could you paint your window frame white to match the rest of your kitchen? I'd then use a wide white blind.

If you use a fabric or woven blind, lower it to the halfway mark on your window. That's assuming you would still be able to see out.

As nhb22 mentioned, if the blind is installed within the frame you would lose nearly half of the view. Would you be okay with mounting it above the window frame? The trim is handsome and it seems a shame to cover it.

Yes. I would hang it so it just covered about 6 inches of the top of the window. I just want to dress it up a bit.
