Are you more concerned with how it looks inside looking out, or outside looking in? You can get a window with privacy glass and install a shade inside that when closed not even shadows show through at night (blackout lined).

Think about this: Install exterior louvers that can open and close to control the light. Have them open during the day, and close off the window at night when you want to stargaze from your deck. Stain wood louvers to match the deck.

Add frosted privacy film to the interior glass now, very easy DIY. Then when you remodel, replace the window with a solid panel of frosted or ribbed glass.

Install a vent fan if there isn't one. I recommend a ceiling fan/heater combo. Very nice, heats the bathroom in a couple of minutes. You can add that now, too.

If it’s a double-hung window you can get privacy film for the bottom section of the window that’s translucent enough to still let the light in. That’s a good solution until such time you can replace the window.

Privacy film is a great low cost solution that virtually disappears. I own a historic apartment building with large windows in the bath facing the parking lot and we put frosting on the lower sashes just to make it feel more private...

Thank you for these suggestions. For now, I think I will work on the privacy glass in the bathroom. Even before the remodel and I will install the ceiling fan so that the window will be kept closed.

It's okay to have an open window onto the deck if no one is out there. But how do you get people to remember to close the window if there are? You don't.

Wire the fan so it goes on when the light is turned on? Okay..but then they turn it off after they're done. I tape my fan switch to the on position when people are over. There's gotta be a way...

Oh, and I have a peeve about leaving the door open in an empty bathroom...just shut the damn door! "But how do you know if someone's in there?" they say. It's called knocking!!!!
