Shiranui is productive. Need to support branches though

My Shiranui/Dekopon plant #2 has had a good season! I grafted this one several years ago onto a very mature Citrumelo rootstock, so it just took off. Need to come up with a better way to support the heavy branches. Shiranui plant #1 is taking the year off after having produced a crop the year before. I think container citrus often do that alternate bearing thing. My Citrus will come into the garage this weekend. Cold is on its way!

Hi Laura,

Well, to be honest, the Oroblanco grew incredibly well and bloomed wonderfully. I just could NOT get the fruit to mature. They never 'plumped out', but were shaped more like a lemon and never got sweet. I think I just couldn't provide enough light and heat in the wintertime for good fruit development. So I gave it away to a buddy in OK who has put it in the ground and covers with tarps and Christmas lights over winter -- along with his Meyer and mandarins. He has lots of fruit on it already!

Even though I'm no expect maybe they need to be in a greenhouse to keep it warm In the winter and there you can control both the heat and the light during the winter
