That's a nice rose (IHT) - I like them to be a bit raggedy and rugged...I did grow Cardinal Hume, another Harkness rose which was definitely NOT small (although it was involved in a mad skyward race with Duc de Guiche and rosa Californica). It was an early victim of my stuffing tendency and because it had the worst thorns of the 3, it had an early bath.

I think 'International Herald Tribune' would work nicely. I tried to grow 'Baby Faurax' several times, but it always died after one or two years, and had terrible chlorotic foliage.

Yep, it does fit the bill. I like Harkness roses as a rule, because they are such good garden roses. They demand to be grown in a properly mixed border with astrantias., alchemilla larkspur and so on, - very unpretentious roses.

I used Mr Bluebird in several customer's gardens - a really delightful little rose which is surprisingly versatile - have used in in a formal box parterre and with wild flowers and grasses.

Eugene de Beauharnais, fragrance is memorable.

I believe it was Jackie on another post who commented that Eugene de Beauharnais stayed small for her when all her other old roses turned into giants.
