We purchased a Georgian home 2 years ago and the home's walls were nearly all wallpaper. In the LR, we removed the 20+ years old wallpaper but have gouged and ripped the drywall paper during glue/backing removal.

My dilemma is this, I am going to replace the walls with new drywall, but am concerned about the removal of the custom crown moulding (we are going to reuse it). Should I take the chance and remove it or should I cut/remove the existing drywall beneath it and fit up the new sheets to the old ones?
