Balancing radiators

I live in a 2 storey house with a basement garage underneath in which a gas condensing boiler resides. That boiler supplies hot water to both the radiators and a tank which is on the top floor. I am looking to balance the radiators to ensure i get the best heating efficiency and have seen advice on this. Is it likely that one storey of the house gets heated water before the other, or that both stories are supplied at the same time (and then a sequence of radiators on that storey)?

I ask as i see the advice that one has to identify the order in which radiators heat up, but it's tricky for me to be on 2 stories at once.

PS: I don't have 2 "zones".

So, you only have one thermostat? which type of radiators do you have — old fashioned cast iron or baseboard (Baseray, Slant/Fin)?

Hi Elunia. We have a mix of single panel and double panel radiators in the house. Most are double panel but we still have 4 singles in the older rooms (bedrooms which we heat less). The house is from the 1964 and was extended upwards and outwards in 2004. So anything in the extended areas are double panel and some parts of the older area were also replaced (hall and kitchen).

I fitted a Tado smart control system. This comes with a thermostat in the kitchen/dining area (the biggest room - and part of the extension) and individual smart thermostats on radiators in the more commonly heated parts of the house (excluding the old single panel radiators).

As it happens i don't think i can adjust the older radiators as i can't see a lockshield valve on them. But they are much more lightly used.
