That's right, Kazanlik doesn't repeat.

It's a funny coincidence because I had seen the exact same thing on a Greek nursery's website, Avramis. They had a description of Kazanlik as a repeat bloomer. I was surprised and emailed them, and they apologized saying it was a mistake on their website. Probably the same thing happened at High Country's website.

'Kazanlik' has never repeated for me in the 22 years I've grown it. FWIW

Then again, HCR may be mistaken about their clone being remontant. Have you had yours long enough to see if it re-blooms? If not, I'd wait to see it it actually does repeat before you decide it's not the correct rose.

I thought it was strange, and that maybe they mixed it up with Autumn Damask. But they have a separate catalog entry for AD with a different photo and description, so it seems like they would know if that were the case. At any rate, I was curious enough to give it a try. I just recently bought it. It's scheduled for delivery today, so it'll be a while before I can say if it repeats or not. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

It notes "occasional repeat" on the HCR website. I have many Spring blooming OGRs and I occasionally see an out of season bloom. I agree this is probably not worth mentioning if it is describing a rose for sale. This may be the real rose they are selling that is Spring blooming since adding the occasional repeat is more confusing than helpful.

You're right, Sheila. I also thought it's possible that what they're selling as Kazanlik is really Autumn Damask, and what they're selling as AD is something else, maybe a Portland or Hybrid Perpetual. I think I remember something similar happening at Heirloom years ago?

That has happened at most nurseries at one time or another. It can be fun figuring out which one has really received.

Nice rose! Autumn Damask is waaayyy thornier than that, so I would say it's not AD.  

I never did get Kazanlik once the nursery confirmed she doesn't rebloom, so I don't know if the thorns etc might match your rose.

Those leaflets don't look like the 'Kazanlik' I know: too rounded/wide, whereas the 'Kazanlik' in my garden has much more pointed leaflets - not nearly as "chubby/wide". Its possible growing conditions affects leaf shape somewhat, but the lack of pointed leaflets makes me think this is something else.

Now I'm more curious than ever about this one.

Any updates on how this Rose is doing? I just purchased one from RVR.
