What wall paint to complement fireplace?

We debated long and hard about painting this fireplace but decided against it. Instead we will paint the walls which are currently gray. We are thinking about Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee, which is pictured below. What do you all think, does it work? Any other wall colors that might be good to try? Also, do think we made the right call to not paint the fireplace?

I have no idea if that choice was right for your space so maybe post a pic of the whole space too. As for wall color thta will need to be decided with your stuff including the flooring , your furniture and really your style. I think the FP should not have the TV above the mantel I ssume that is what is there .

Yes, the Swiss Coffee, but paint all the walls and trim the same color. There is so much going on with the architecture, the craftsman fireplace (which is very nice), and then the arches and the prominent window moldings and the blinds...so much detail and so busy.

It all needs to be minimized so the fireplace can the focal point. Use flat paint on the walls and semi-gloss for the all the trim. Swiss Coffee for both. Oh yes, the ceilings and adjoining rooms as well.

Nice fireplace surround, yes, good not to paint it.

Looks like a great conversation room to enjoy the fireplace.

It IS a shame to have the TV above it... no other room for TV viewing?

It's so high for viewing comfortably.

Just because your furniture leans all gray, no need to match to wall color.

I think your fireplace is really lovely! Is there any chance the TV could go somewhere else in favor of art above the fireplace? Right now the black TV screen isn't showcasing the lovely fireplace as well as it could. Regardless, I think you made the right choice to keep the stained fireplace surround.

There's a good chance Swiss Coffee will work, but as with all painting projects, sampling is very important. We can't really tell from a photo exactly which color is going to work. If I had a nickel for everyone who has posted here saying they had their house painted and they don't like the color. Even if it's only one room you have either expended your own effort or paid someone else a lot of money to do it so it pays to proceed carefully.

“Yes, the Swiss Coffee, but paint all the walls and trim the same color.”

Agree…Swiss Coffee can be great, but definitely test it with a sample can.

I think they already have some Swiss Coffee on the walls, next to the FP, looks great to me. Makes the trim look dingy by comparison.

We have walls, ceiling and trim the same color at home and wow what a great effect. I was so tired of the gingerbread look of all that contrasting window and door trim. Soothing.

Yes, we have Swiss coffee right next to the fireplace, haven’t done the trim yet because I wanted to make sure I liked the color

I like the Swiss coffee and your fireplace. They look beautiful together, IMO.

Unfortunately painting the fireplace surround will make the huge tv stick out like a sore thumb. I did not even notice it at first. It’s a beautiful room with seating set up for conversation around a cozy fire, not watching tv. I would ditch the tv and put art there, and paint it to blend in better.

Benjamin Moore has 9"x14.75" peel and stick samples. I would order some of those, put them in place near the fireplace and see how that color fits.

They're not painting the wood fireplace surround. They already have the sample color on the walls near the fireplace to see how the color fits. It's pretty much agreed here their choice is a good one.
