Hosta B 2022......................

Good start everyone. We are warming up here now getting back to normal temps. This was a hard freeze for me, we usually do not get this cold for so long. I guess, even covered, that I am not a Plumeria grower anymore. But the Hostas are loving it. Let's see some Bs today:

Have a great day everyone.

ps Do go over to the Daylily page and look at the photos. They are beautiful. Now that I am retired the planting field is mine. You are all right I am loving this.

Retirement is great, a time to focus your time on what you want to do, plus get up in the morning and enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee.

I like all of those ”blushing beauties”

Blue Ivory is happy in a pot.

Bridal Falls was too close to my maple. She got rescued to a pot and recovered well.

Brother Stephan is my favorite B hosta.

Lots of beautiful blues. I haven't added many hostas the past few years, have a hard time just maintaining what I have, let alone adding more. So most of mine are the old standbys.

Boy there are are so many beauties here. I hope my baby Brother Stefan grows up to look like all of yours.

Beth love the corrugation on Blackjack.

hosta_maker Bloodline is impressive but that Big Daddy sport is lovely.

Sherry your Blue Ivory is tremendous.

Ann yes I agree we should all have Blue Angel. Happy you found your Blue Cadet pic.

old_dirt Brass Ring is terrific. I have a lot of old faves too but they are classics for good reason.

Shadow your Beach Boy is wonderful. Mine dwindled away to nothing in its pot before I had a place to plant it.

    Nice looking hosta everyone.

shout out to don rawson for that bloodline pic, it pays to have a really nice camera to capture the correct color. his is very nice.

bloodline gets better with age, even when the blush fades the next benefit is a nice august bloom display.

First comments……..ilovetogrow, I am LOVING all the jokes!! Thank you so much for doing the alphabet again this year. In retirement, you will find that you don’t know how you used to find time to fit work into your day…..😊

    Everyone’s Brother Stephen looks great!

Beth, Bitsy Gold is radiant in your garden…

Hosta_maker, I love all of the blushers you are working with! Will you be breeding the Big Daddy sport? And——I hope my Bloodline looks as good as yours this year!

Sherry, you have a really nice Bridal Falls. I am happy you rescued it!

Nicholsworth, I agree……everyone should have a Blue Angel! Yours is lovely…..

Old dirt, I am loving that Brass Ring—-such a terrific contrast of the dark green and white margin!

Shadow, your Beach Boy is beautiful!

Peren, you have so many good ones, but your Blue Mouse Ears is the best! It’s glorious in bloom!

Sherry I have Bloodline but the pics are first year and this later one iss from after I moved it because it was burning from too much sun. Also I was focusing on the flower bud.

Hope this helps a bit. I will have more pics this year to document from pip to bloom.

i am the authority on bloodline since i created it.

that picture is the original clump, its 6 years old from seed.

it is my longest lasting blusher so far.

here in mn it gets pretty hot in july

here it is in early august.

Most of the blush is gone.

i have theories on why they do what they do, i think mainly it has to do with plants sugars.

early on is available in the leaf where later is directed to the scape and flower.

you can read more on my site here.

Hosta maker, thanks for the info and photo. I like that you can still see some of the blush late in the season. I have admired your creations many times…..didnt remember this was yours!

Aww, so good. Drooling of everyone's pics. So much beauty.

Hosta maker, that blue streaker is something else. I got Blue jeans bling last year, I wonder if it is a good grower?

Lindalana blue jeans bling is a medium grower. comparable to queen of the seas.

it should get that large as well. i gave the whole plant up so the lab could get the best margin out of it. i got one back last year so i am starting over to. i only had a few pictures.

i think this was its 4th or 5th year before bob took it.

i am looking forward too seeing it large again. A spring pic.

that big daddy sport is down right glacial. it is over 15 years old. too slow for intro.

Debra your Blazing Saddles is wonderful, I really need to find a spot for mine. It is sitting in a pot. You captured Blueberry muffins perfectly.

    Very nice gardenchick.

Gary I had never seen Borocay before. What a great sport of Captain Kirk.

Pieter just beautiful. Hope you find more.

lindalana it is so good that you can compare BG & CW. They are both lovely. Please keep us updated on growth rate and other differences/similarities.

Hosta_maker, that Big Daddy sport is a looker. I liked Big Daddy, except the cupped leaves held dirt (I live on a busy city street, so I see lots of flying dirt). This one seems to escape that problem. Great save!

Blueberry Muffin (with a small pot of BM too) Not as much corrugation as yours Debra. I love the corrugation on yours!

    Brim Cup

Brother Stefan (my favorite B too Sherrygirl) I don't know why but my Brother Stefan has only one eye, but it is huge! And I have two that are one eyed monsters. I am really enjoying them. Wonder if it will explode into several smaller eyes next year?

Thanks newhostalady, my BM is more than 6+ years old, so corrugation should come with age.
