We are building a new home. As a result of design choices in the lower level we have the ability to add a very large master closet (roughly 18x18).

I would like to put a chandelier or other decorative lighting in the center but it sounds like I may have a code issue. My builder says I can put “nice” garage lights, which is a hard no. They also said I can put can lights (with covers) but they also noted that these don’t offer much light. Suggestions? My style is slightly French country/traditional.
