Rug Coordination Help!

Ignore the boyfriend lol. Having trouble finding a rug that works with this one in an open concept area under my dining table. The ivory is a touch yellowish and I’ve returned a burgundy ruggable already that clashed. Any help would be appreciated!

    Aww, cute kitties! :)

Show the dining room, please … and a picture with both rooms to see how it all relates.

What is your rug budget? Do you prefer another Ruggable, or are you open to others?

Thanks so much! I dont think I would like to stick with ruggable, but I would like to keep it under $600

Ohhh, I really like the cowhide there! What is it you don’t like?

(I like how you mixed and matched chairs, you have a good eye.)

Oh thank you! It felt like the cowhide is getting a bit dated as I’ve had it for a number of years now. I also wasnt sure it would look good alongside the kitchen reno I’m doing: light oak shaker with black hardware and a white marble quartz withe white subway tile. It felt a little ”funky” to have next to the kitchen, plus its a pain because its always moving.

Are you open to mixing patterns, or would you prefer something more neutral?

What do you think about a natural fiber rug — jute, sisal, seagrass?

Or a distressed look, but with warm colors:

Any way you can get a picture from further back that shows the living room rug and dining area together?

Are you tired of my questions? :D

Haha no I love your questions! jute wont work because my cats think its a scratching post (I should have mentioned that). I’m definitely open to something more neutral but it seems to clash when I put the photo next to it. something like this would be nice though if I could find one that worked

Yes, it’s very challenging choosing a rug to coordinate with an existing one, just going by computer monitors. Some places sell samples, but that can get expensive unless the first one works.

I’ve been lucky in that my cats rarely scratch my 20+ yr old jute runner. (Before it seems like I’m bragging, come look at my couch they’re turned into shredded wheat. No time for the rug, there’s a couch to destroy thread by thread!)

If you see a rug online you like, you might want to order the smallest size initially — easier to return if necessary. Or bring some home from local places to try.

Good luck, would like to see what you decide!

I think your hide rug is perfect! Might layer in another one to ground the space a bit more. Maybe add a cluster of carved wood finials for interest on a round black tray in center of table.
