Prep process for exterior pine wood

Hello, we are replacing some of our pine board and batten on our home and adding new ones to our addition versus ripping the entire siding off. What would be the best prep process for the pine boards? I have BIN for the knots and bought Sherwin Williams Durarion exterior paint. Would you prime on top of spot priming with BIN before applying the SW? Thanks

Yes,use primer recommended on paint label.

Yes....use BIN for knots, 3 coats of it. Then, my 1st choice is a full coat of an Exterior OIL Primer. Prime ALL sides of the new boards, especially END-cuts.

NOW you're ready for 2 coats of the actual Paint on the out-facing sides.
