We are having our garage build with sliding doors, because we didn't want anything above our vehicles when driven into the garage and the roll-up doors were too expensive. I can live with manually moving the doors, but I don't think it would be too difficult to rig a bicycle-chain drive to move the doors. Maybe modify a commercial opener?
