Sherry: Both of your daylilies look great. Of course I'm partial to yellows, so the flush of blooms on Coyote Moon is most appealing........Clown's Cabaret bloomed for well over 6 weeks for me in our searing heat. Salter daylilies usually do well for me in my climate:

Great bad joke, Sherry! Claudine's Charm is pretty. Maryl, Clown Cabaret is nice too.

C is a tough one. More than 5 that bloom well. But I will stick to the rules! I will leave out Court Magician, Ciel D'or and Coral Majority.

Carmen Renee, of course. In spite of the drought, it just shortened the scapes and still bloomed like crazy. Increases rapidly.

Castle Pinkney. Took several years to get going [I almost gave up on it] but has been great ever since.

Chance Encounter always blooms well. It's only issue is the first few days the blooms don't open real wide. After than, wow. Increases rapidly.

Catastrophe Waitress is well budded.

Christopher Russell blooms very well. A bit short but fortunately so is the foliage.

I have far more than 5 that are excellent in my garden but I narrowed it down to these and a couple extras that begged not to be omitted:

CYNTHIA DAWN, large blooms, healthy, hardy and one of the best bloomers in the garden

CLOWN PARADE, always makes the list with it's incredible performance, bright cheery colors. Massive plant with good foliage, extremely pod fertile producing some nice kids

CASCO BAY DELIGHT, this lesser known cultivar has incredible branching, sturdy scapes, high bud count

CURT'S GIFT, giant plant with huge, perfect blooms; great performance all around and pod fertile

CELEBRATE THE DAY, I've had this one forever but it's never let me down. Perfect plant specimen, healthy, hardy, always loaded with buds, has produced lovely kids for me

COME SAIL AWAY, strange that this Guy Pierce intro has shone in my garden when many of his others have struggled or perished. This one is TALL and the blooms are HUGE. It doesn't seem to mind my cold climate and every bloom is perfect. A little pod-reluctant but it will set them with the right pollen. I love it because it commands attention when you see it in person.

(There are other 'C's also deserving, like Claudine's Charm and Coyote Moon which were already posted; also Court Troubadour, an oldie but goodie). Sorry, but I do have a lot of great 'C's and I just wanted to add one more:

COUNT DE MONET

This one is super tall, great branching, large blooms and dark color. Very striking in the garden and has good bud count. It's only downfall is that I have yet to set a pod on it but the pollen is great.

Beautiful selection Celeste! My favorites are Curt's Gift, Cynthia Dawn, & Clown Parade.

Sherry - Funny joke! Claudine's Charm always charms me. Where's Cameroon Night? I thought that one did so well for you this year.

Celeste - Curt's Gift and Come Sail Away look wonderful! I agree about Clown Parade having great plant habits, but it always looks more red than rose pink in my garden.

Maryl - Clown's Cabaret is a pretty one! Where's your Cherokee Star?

I don't have that many that start with C, so picking 5 isn't as hard for me as it was on A and B. I'll have to post mine later since Houzz won't let me upload photos right now.

Carolina Pale Face is probably my favorite C. It multiplies well, is a good pod setter, and almost always reblooms here.

Carolina Cool Down is such a gorgeous color and it blooms later in the season.

Cameroon Night had a very good showing this year, after several years of being attacked by grubs.

Carefree Sunset is one I've successfully grown for more than 15 years in a pot. It's incredibly hardy, but I don't know if it will survive this winter, since it's been very wet and we were below 5 degrees for several days in December.

Confessions of a Hemaholic multiplies well and is a real pod hussy late in the season. My one complaint is that it's not as tall as registered here.

My runners up would be Clown Parade, Carmen Renee and Core Values.

I like the watermarks on Claudine's Charm, Confessions of a Hemaholic, Carolina Pale Face, and Curt's Gift. I also like Come Sail Away.

Here are my C's.

Candy Bandit is an excellent grower. It's hardy (from Canada's Bryan Culver) and produces lots of blooms.

I have taken a liking to some narrow formed daylilies. This is Carol Sing, which lights up the late garden.

Cherokee Pass has been in our garden for many years. It's my kind of color, is taller than Fooled Me, and blooms mid-late. It's a great grower too.

I don't mean to 'toot my own horn', but I would be remiss if I didn't include Cherry Pie a la Mode. It blooms early mid season and then immediately puts up a second round of scapes. Reports from other growers show rebloom later in the season too.

That's all for me.

Debra, Cameroon Night did well but only had its first season here. I am just being picky about what I recommend. It needs another season or two here to truly sing its praises.

I can see why you love the color of Claudiine's Charm, Sherry. And like your joke. Clown's Cabaret is very pretty, Maryl. Brad, I am glad that Catastrophe Waitress is doing well for you , and it is one of mine too.

Celeste, Celebrate the Day is a nice one, and Curt's Gift is gorgeous. I also choose Clown Parade as one of mine

Debra, as usual you have several lovely ones and I especially love Confessions of a Hemoholic but didn't chose that one of my five; like Celeste and Brad, and you I am sure there are too many "C" favorites. Crazy Cat Lady is one I like the name, the colors, and that it is a late one. that can't be easily overlooked.

Nancy, Candy Bandit is one of yours that I like, and Cherry Pie a la Mode is a good one too.

I chose Cup of Cold Water Since it bloomed so much and so many times.

And I can't leave out Curiosity Cat, and Debra[s Gypsy Cat is in the background.

This is a lot of fun to look back over the year...I was because I was working so much in the new area and taking all the CEU courses to renew the R.N for the next two years, Glad that's done.

Way too much eye candy here. I love CURT'S GIFT, CLOWN PARADE, CAROLINA COOL DOWN, but my favorite is CELEBRATE THE DAY. I have never heard of that one or seen it before.

Here are my favorite C daylilies:

Caribbean Whipped Cream: A classic that always performs well for me. Some days it is more yellow. It doesn't matter to me, I love the ruffles, form and plant habit. It blooms for a long time. Highly recommended.

CHILLED ORANGE SORBET: I love this plant even though it is slow to increase. I love the ruffles, and the slight pleats in the throat.

CLIFFJUMPER: One of my favorites from this past year. Really gets your attention from across the yard.

CHARLOTTE ROYCROFT: Another one that blooms for a long time and increases well. I like that there is a lot going on with this flower. The pattern is not as apparent the first two weeks of the season, but then it gets going and looks like this for the remainder of the season.

Of course I had to put a Bud Bennett intro in. This is CARELESS DREAM: Blooms are flat and 7 to 8 inches. I love this bloom and it is a mid late, but more on the late side. It blooms above the foliage. I only wish it was taller. I have some thoughts about trying to increase the height.

I also grown CLOWN PARADE and CAROLINA COOL DOWN and they are also great.

After posting my choices I felt a twinge of guilt having omitted Claudine's Charm since she is always so reliable and just beautiful.

Your Claudine's Charm does indeed look happy. I must admit that mine has never really impressed here as a clump; must be location. I know that Debra had trouble with it years ago. Since I am making a comment, I will post one other:

Contributing Editor--an unusual color on a decent-height plant.

Mantis, I do like the unusual color of Contributing Editor. Also like Christopher Hitchens.

Lots of eye catching Cs here! Love them all. I have had to think of parameters of ”best” rather than ”favorite” and that makes a difference in selections!

Creature of the Night-great height, buds, and multiplies well

Clown Parade-ditto on everything already said about this plant

Crystal Rubies-just an eyecatching bloom with lots of buds

Cheddar Cheese-was there ever a cultivar more aptly named? A standout in the garden

Come Sail Away made the list due to resilience from pot to garden with good multiplication of fans. As Celeste said, it does draw your eye to it

Cameroon Night was also fabulous. Cowboys Don’t Cry is one that never disappoints.

Kate - I grow Creature of the NIght, but I don't think mine has ever had as many buds as yours has in that photo. Mine has been surviving in a pot for more than 15 years, and some years it has bud counts in the high teens and other years only 9-10 per scape.

I feel badly that I forgot CHEDDAR CHEESE. I'm with Kate on nominating this one as an all-around terrific daylily. It's so bright you can probably see it from outer space! Not to mention it is the most carefree plant in the garden, multiplies quickly, healthy and hardy and always in bloom.
