needs more decorating?

Here is our entry way in Florida. Console, rug, bench-it seems like it is not finished yet, but not sure what it needs. Hoping to get some ideas here!

Looks like a different bench in each picture. The rattan one is nice. The space is bland colorwise except for the shock of color on the wall. How about adding a plant — good quality fake if not enough light there. A tall tree - ficus or fiddle leaf fig - to put color on wall too. Put it in a large blue pot to add more color at base of room. Is there room to put that to left of picture - when facing picture. I think the plant would add some life. Is there a need for a mirror in this entry? If yes, a larger metal framed mirror hung over the bench would be good.

Thank you. Where could I find a good quality artificial plant? Also, what shape of a mirror? Or size.

And yes, there is plenty of room to the left of the console for a large plant.

Perigold.com might be a source for artificial plants but I think $$$. A local source would be best so you could see it but many online sources too. Just be sure to read reviews! Since you’re in FL a palm might be good choice too. For the pot, I’d check local plant nurseries that sell nice pots - should be easy to find a bright blue to match the blue of your art. For mirror, any shape except square that is the art shape. Size should be proportionate to bench. You’d want to be able to see most of yourself when standing on far edge of rug away from mirror.

Ok! Thank you. I'll see what I can find!

Definitely a pair of lamps, or one lamp with a bulky base, on the console. While you have recessed cans, the "ambiance" is achieved with lamps.

Sorry, this entire entry is a do over. Can you return anything?

Do you use the entry? That light colored rug is wrong, etc...

Ok! Thank you for your input.

I do not like the light colored rug either. I can use it in another area. We do use this area as it is by the front door and we drop our bags, purses, shoes etc there.

If you want to keep that dresser, I would suggest you spritz it with some cleaning solution and a coat of paint (it looks a little worn out/dingy unless it is meant to be weathered). If you're open to a new console, I'd recommend you find a table you like in the same white creamy shade. You need a lamp or two, a vase or a plant on one side. The Art piece is fine just make sure it's not too high if you buy a new console. Mirror would look beautiful here and reflect all the light. You need color.

I'm sorry the rug has to go. Normally I don't tell people to get rid of things but the rug is not helping the space at all. It does look cozy and lived-in. So I would consider moving it to a basement or to be used somewhere else. Not the entry. I don't recommend artificial plants either. Spend the extra money and buy the real plant. It clears the air and looks realistic to the eyes and to the touch, something artificial plants can't do. IKEA sells cheap plants, look for sturdy plants that can withstand neglect. You have a beautiful space with lots of potential. Florida is warm and cheerful so take advantage of that and add some color to the room. I can give suggestions if you are still stuck.

I assume that blue is the color that you want to use. What style - tropical, elegant, etc.
