What to do with the bedroom?

Updating the bedroom. The two small corner windows are coming out and one larger window will go next to the door The furniture is a bit big and dark but do not want to get rid of all of it. Thinking I will get rid of the king bed frame/headboard/footstool to start. The walls are currently a grey color, floor nuertral beige. I was thinking of shiplap on the back wall possible or new colors on the walls. Getting a lighter color headboard with no bedframe, new rugs, everything. I really want to lighten and warm this room up. Iam very open and appreciative to any idea styles or designs you may have.

I would first choose the bedding. Then the color for walls, etc will flow from that. Seems like a lot of money to close in windows - what will it do to the outside look of your home? I actually like the bed and with the appropriate night stands I think it would be great. Make sure the rug is large enough to step on it from both sides and bottom of the bed. If the bed is queen then at least an 8x10 but in your large room 9x12 might be better.

I would also keep the bed and get rid of the nightstands - try something smaller, maybe with a mirrored finish on the front? Yes to getting rid of the footstool. Then, pick out the bedding you love, and select a rug and paint color that compliments the bedding.

Is there any possible way to flip the room? It might leave space to angle a comfy chair in the corner.

Thanks for your thoughts. We are removing the windows as they do not open and allow any airflow thru the home. Plus they need to be replace as they are not in good shape. They seem to be a bit awkward in position and take away fromt the feature wall. Adding a window on the other wall that will open to allow a breeze into the bedroom and it will look nice from the outside. I was thinking the bed is big but I see your thoughts on keeping it and making it a focal point on that wall. There is room on the other wall corner to add a chair. Do you think I should paint a feature wall color or one color for all the walls.

    Some thoughts:--

--Your room is going to be a lot darker if you remove the windows. Can you replace them with windows that let in a little air?

--You need some color, pattern , and texture to warm up the room:

--New bedding in ivory, tans, brown, and an accent color. Here is a palette that would work very well with all your furnishings. Notice how the softly patterned rug adds softness and little color in the room. Note how art work echoes colors in the rug and bedspread. Throw echoes the accent wall, which works better than shiplap would. Soft, light drapes in ecru add softness. All of this would be less hassle and expense than what you have in mind.

I love the look of corner windows and would just have larger windows installed. Keep the frames in line with the slider and use another pair of draperies for it. Find a fabric you love and use that for inspiration.

@Sammie J suggested, keep the headboard and get smaller nightstands in a color...similar to my photo...blue drapes, pale blue nightstands.

No "shiplap"....add art over the headboard.

IMO you need to decide your style . You have very modern lights , shiplap is already a dated and IMO not modern at all. I ahppen to love corner windows so I leave them . I like your furniture it looks to be good quality so maybe ecplain why the change. I love the Asian inspired bedroom from housegal and unless you are going country please no blue painted dresser. Change for the sake of change is IMO not great. I think you have the basic pieces to do a really beautiful bedroom . Some nice bedding will set the tone. It also will set the color palette. Drpaes hund wall to wall and arond the corner will be a very formal type space but also very cozy feeling. This gra bedroom is one of my all time faves and IMO timelss .I went to your idea book and still feel confused as to the style you like . My advice google bedrooms in a aperticular style and do that for many styles . I would not spend any money on new furniture I just reread a commnet about the windows so do that for sure for the reasons you stated . I went and looked at transitionl bedrooms maybe start there and please tell us what your style is .

There are a variety of ways you could lighten up your current bedroom. You could try painting the walls a lighter color, doing a large light colored rug, doing light window treatments, updating the sconces, adding mirrors to bounce around the light, adding artwork with lighter colors, and adding some plants. Here are some of the bedroom designs we have done which might help you more with your dilemma.
