I was lucky to meet Dane when he was first searching for a home in the Boston area. It was immediately apparent that he was talented beyond the abilities of your average interior designer. Dane saw things in properties that I could never imagine, and he has proven over and over again that he is one of the best. I will always think of Dane first when clients need a referral!

Dane and his team members were helpful throughout our design and execute process. My wife and I purchased a pre-construction condo in East Somerville's Assembly Row. The unit was lacking character, color and texture so we sought and found Dane's guidance through a local internet search. Dane was particularly helpful in showcasing ideas and prospective layouts, co-hosting supplier visits, narrowing our options and executing over a mutually acceptable timetable. I was looking for a designer to help with color, window treatment, and fixture selections as part of a fairly extensive home renovation project. Dane and Aga were recommended to me by my architect. They met with me and asked thoughtful questions to understand our style (which definitely was not evident based on how our home looked at the time). They made several recommendations which I would not have thought of myself, including refacing our very tired fireplace, refinishing the wood floors with a darker stain, painting the entry hallway a beautiful blue-green color, and hanging wallpaper in several rooms. They also helped with light fixtures, tile, etc. Everything is coming together really well. Hopefully once the dust settles in another year or so, we can work on some of Dane and Aga's suggestions around flooring and furniture.

Finally, I can let people in off the front porch! Working with Dane and his team is a fantastic experience. From the front welcome mat and custom carpeted stairs in the main entrance to the drapery rods and careful art placement throughout, every detail is considered. Dane uses a personal and friendly approach, an invaluable 15-Step process, detailed questionnaire, in-depth conversations, a dedicated team, and an inspired sense of style for a job done well done. The vendors he recommended were all professional and a pleasure to work with as well. He exceeded our expectations, and delivered a beautiful, happy, and comfortable living space! Many people think that only fancy folks use interior designers. I was skeptical at first. After meeting with Dane, I was ALL IN. We were open to both high-end retail furniture, and fabulous flea market finds. Dane was great at getting us value for our money while offering unexpected surprises that pushed us out of our comfort zone but came with delightful outcomes. That’s fancy to me. I would (and have) recommend Dane to friends and family, and to anyone who will listen. You will not be disappointed. We have lived in our Newton home for eight years. Most of that time has been relegated to raising three children aged 6,8 & 10. Not much time in that eight years was spent considering our decor. Whenever guests came to visit, I hoped they wouldn’t want to enter. Now, after having worked with Dane Austin Design, I fling open the door, newly painted in my favorite plum color - and insist they come in!

Dane Austin Design was hired to update and repair our Cape Cod home which had not been done for about 25 years . Because we were in Florida for the winter, Mr. Austin took over completely. We were updated on a regular basis about work that needed to be done and the completion of each phase of design. They managed the entire project with ease. Some of the design work completed included a new furniture layout; adding a new fireplace surround; new trim and moldings; new tile work; repainting the whole house; wallpapering the entry (which I was nervous about -but it is now my favorite design feature); custom window treatments and lighting throughout. Mr. Austin's team helped us de-clutter and repurpose old furniture; reusing many of our cherished items, but purchasing new pieces as needed. They also helped source new artwork and managed the install for everything. We arrived home for the Spring season to Mr. Austin and his team who handled every last detail. They greeted us at the door with champagne and appetizers to walk us through every room, highlighting the updated spaces with fresh cut flowers, lit candles, and sweet treats in the candy dishes. Mr. Austin made us feel very comfortable leaving him in control of the project and we couldn't be happier. He is a true professional.

I hired Dane for professional critique and advice on several rooms in my home. He provided his frank and thorough opinion, while helping me identify and build up my own style. Dane also made specific recommendations about color, function, and furnishings on each room, including re-purposing or relocating some of the existing items.
