I like your idea of baskets for texture, but think framed art would look nice, too. I wouldn’t do word art, though (”Gather”, etc) … it’s not very interesting, and is overdone.

Off topic, but would you mind sharing the style/name of your appliance and drawer pulls? I like the shape!

I collect indigenous-made baskets, so like that idea -- but I like the idea of a large piece of framed art there even more. It's the perfect space to make a statement showcasing a large painting or print that speaks to you. Definitely choose art because you love it and because it makes you "feel something" each time you look at it.

What about a cheeful garden bouquet. You will be sitting close so something with interesting detail. This is a great site, fun to use and reasonable. Here is an unframed canvas print.

Instead, I'd take my time and find either a large piece of artwork that appeals to you and your style. Or up to three smaller pieces, related, all about the same size. And if the same size, elevate the center one a few inches higher than the other two.

I agree with Ida, whatever you do, take your time and find something you love.

You can always download a wonderful print(s) from esty for less than 10.00 and have it printed at kinkos or any printing shop and then have it or them framed. I personally would not rush to buy just anything that might fit.

I am guessing that the fridge is to the right? I was thinking of adding a small rug to ground the space but that might not work. Even hanging a light fixture, even something that doesn't require electricity might looks nice.

It is hard to give the best advise without knowing more about the space and getting an idea of the layout.

What about a pendent light fixture above the table.

Linda - glad to see someone else who has the VERY SAME design dilemma as I have! I, too, am struggling with finding the right art on the wall above my tiny table table. I will continue to follow to see what you decide. Jinx - thanks so much for sharing those photos - thinking now I definitely need to find a way to add some specific lighting to mine! BTW…I am in love with those cute yellow (low profile) chairs in one of the photos! Small seating has always been a struggle for me. 😉

I like the suggestion of a swing arm lamp or sconces. A ~54” settee type of seat for two might cozy up and add some energy to the wall as well.

@eld6161 I wanted a darker color, but the yellow in the undertones in the cabinets ended up pulling yellows our of all of my greige choices (color on the tiles) end then it just looked yellow. I had someone come and do a complete repaint of the space and a color consultant pick colors. It is also helpful to know- the space is dark- it only has one window in a large space and that window is a direct sunlight so the blinds are often down for my husband's vampire tendencies :)

@Jilly I like the lighting, but also know that practically speaking it would end up being in the way as we walk around one corner where it would make sense to come from or get in the way of opening a cabinet in the other side- I think I am liking the varied pictures idea you gave- I am going to do some mock-ups and get some opinions :)

I am feeling liking bringing the prairies into the kitchen- surprisingly this means bringing yellows back into the walls LOL- oh the irony. We live in Alberta, Canada, and our attached family room has a mountain getaway feel, so, it might be nice to add the rolling foothills and prairie art into the room. Stay tuned everyone :)

I like the wall sconces Jinx posted to get light over the table. I have a love of whimsical art.

I am not pariculary fond of any of the ideas. They certainly are not bad ideas, but they aren't doing anything interesting with your space.

First question, do you need to use those table and chairs? If not, I can really see the small round table and somethihng like the chairs Jink posted first in her ideas post. I say this bc everything ithere are so many hard edges. It would be really appealing to the eye to see a curve, That would really add some visual interest and might suit the space more. You can always find great deals on Marketplace or Bull Sell or trade.. Maybe you even have a innexpensive place where someone sells random antiques or just about anything.

I also love the idea of the lamp. Not sure if that would work for you.

You could always add interest to the wall with paint, various board placement etc. It would def give some lovely texture andi interest as well.

I would still love to see more photos of the rest of your kitchen and maybe of your home to get some ideas of what you love.

Here’s a possibility for something interesting with paint. This example is all straight lines, but you could use curved lines instead.

I’m entertaining myself this winter by learning how to do mock-ups on my iPad. Here is a compilation of some of the great ideas above. Rug - I selected a cowhide. Art - one amazing oversized piece will always be a showstopper. Light - what about an art light, that way it will be high up out of your way:

I I am still struggling.. people asked for a bit more of an understanding of the space. The light is hard... if I put it to the right, it gets in the way of the drawer, to the left, walking path. I have to be cognizant that the space is as usable without issues as it is with the decor. There isn't much to compare to in my home except the TV room as this is my first tproject
