Toilet seat left up??

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has run into this issue, but when someone leaves the toilet seat up it really infuriates me!! Does anyone else feel this way? I'm redesigning my bathroom right now, and if there was a self closing seat I'd be so happy... Does anyone know of anything/feels the same way??

Put a banjo-type countertop above the tank that overhangs enough to not allow the seat to stay up on its own. The guys will have to keep one hand on each.

I have a different point of view. I’m a woman, but feel that leaving the toilet seat up works for about half the general population. Not a huge deal to me to put it down. That said, my husband did choose Toto seats that slowly close.

I feel the same, that it should be left down but also that i worry things can fall in, that when it gets flushed there is a plume, etc. when i redo the bathrooms i am getting a toto washlet to prevent this issue.

My husband is so considerate and closes the lid everytime. I noticed this when we were dating. One of the many things that showed me what a thoughtful person he is!

It is not just the seat that bugs me, it is also the lid. I always wonder if they leave the kitchen cabinets open and the closet doors.

My husband has always closed the toilet also from the first.

It's been ages that I've been around someone that leaves the seat up. We prefer the seat and lid down. At my moms, they leave the lid up- it's a timely thing sometimes for elder functions. Sometimes at other houses the lid is up, but it does not bother me.

Could you just ask repeat offenders to put the seat down and if they keep forgetting, just hang a reminder sign on the wall behind the toilet?

If this is your toilet and your desire is made known, and it's willfully ignored... it sounds like bigger issues than a toilet seat. If this is a shared toilet, maybe you can make room for a urinal as a compromise.

My Toto washlet automatically opens the lid when someone approaches and then closes the lid when you walk away.

it can also be programmed so that it raises the SEAT when someone stands in front of it as a man would when he is urinating. It then closes the seat and the lid when the person walks away.

I feel your pain in terms of someone leaving the seat up because a few times I have literally almost fallen into the toilet beause I wasn't expecting the seat to be up. The lid is theoretically supposed to be left down in terms of "politeness" but to me that isn't as big a deal as a seat being left up although it is nice that the Toto toilet lid is automatic and so my toilet lids are always down.

My washlet was not cheap but it was SO worth it and is on my list of best things I got when I remodeled

My DH wipes down and closes his own toilet every time, as well as when he uses mine. #Fortunate.

I work with all women and we know when a guy visits our offices, 😒when the lid is up
