Transitional Clothing - Looking to Spring

Truth is, I haven't been in the mood to shop the last month. I don't need anything for the winter season and while I am looking forward to spring (and a few trips!), I haven't been all that motivated to see what they are showing for spring. BUT I have made a few purchases and love them all so I thought I'd share what I found ... and see what you all have found!

I would be embarrassed to tell you exactly how many of these tops I have purchased! They fit so well and I love the deep scoop neckline. They are a little more substantial than I'd expect from Old Navy and great for under a sweater or jacket or stand alone.. and they are $8!

And looking forward to spring travel and summer lounging, I gave this dress from free people a try. I can't tell you how much I love it. It does run large-- I have it in a size L and I am usually a plus size 2x-ish. I know it isn't a style all will love but I think it looks great-- even though it is oversized, it doesn't fit like a paper bag. I am sure I will get lots of wear from it! I would wear it to dinner or the market and even to the beach over a bathing suit.

Showing it in one of the other colors so you can see the back and the ties on the side (I may need this color also!)

Those are both great! i looked up that Old Navy shirt to buy, but my size was sold out. I did order a similar striped shirt and two pair of jeans from Old Navy I’m waiting on.

Due to losing some weight, I’m hoping to replace my favorite summer skort- I had my other one for 10 years probably. Looks like the style changed, so fingers crossed it’s still a boring go to.

Ive bought a few pair of bidirectional white stretch fabric slacks from Eileen Fisher Renew… these were my favorite slacks back in the day and they still pop up on the Renew site in perfect condition for about $55– a steal :) I also purchased a couple of Madewell tees (blue and white stripe and plain white), a short pleated black skirt, several thin cotton cardigans from Gap, high round neck three quarter length tees either from Gap or Banana Republic, and a couple of Tuckernuck’s stand up collared cotton shirts. Everything in white, navy, black or camel. I have several very old (but in great condition) skirts that ive got new sweater type tops for, and just got out 2 sundresses from my out of season closet that need taking in but are otherwise perfect, one solid blue and the other a blue and white paisley. i am set for spring!

I should be pretty set for spring also -- I will likely need pants/jeans again assuming I continue to lose weight but my tops should continue to work. I did buy a range of sizes of the old navy tees knowing how much I like them and their low prices. Much as I complain about my broad shoulders, they do make it easier to wear big tops without looking frumpy.

I do like to get a few new things each season so I will eventually start more actively shopping for spring ... but it is nice to not have any urgency.

Oh, I DO want to pick up a few pairs of EF linen pants in a smaller size ... and/or see if I can get the ones I have altered in April or so.

Legomom, I don't wear skorts but my sister loves Athleta's skorts. If the new style at Royal Robbins doesnt work out, you may want to give them a try. I don't know which one she wears but they have a number of styles/lengths. I have a Nike skort that is too big but I don't think I'll replace it. It's just not a flattering style on me.

I meant to say that I really love long and 3/4 sleeve tees and they are truly a staple in spring-- it's so easy to throw on a jacket or cardi ... or wear alone with a scarf or necklace. I am picky -- they have to fit just right and I like a substantial cotton material. Usually I go to Talbots or Jjill but I havent' been loving their colors lately. I am ready for a smaller size in white, ivory and a couple of colors. I think I am set on black (and I don't wear navy much)... but I really should get camel!

Also, I picked up a thin cashmere deep v neck in black via stitch fix. I signed up again after quitting it a number of years ago. I am not sure I will stay with the service but the vneck will definitely be useful in spring!

I had a creamy white cashmere cardigan which was indespensible to me for years and years. Sadly, moths got to it. I have no idea how. I need to replace that.

I found a few dresses at Gretchen Scott I like. I think I have narrowed the selection down to this one.

Also, I will pick up some of those great Tees, Funky. I love that neckline.

I checked back at the old navy tees -- they are really picked over, not many sizes left. Sorry about that. I picked up most of them either right before or right after the holidays!

If you like a bodysuit, my niece has this one with similar lines. It's a hefty lycra and is very smoothing. It's from A and the brand name is

    SAUNGKUAI

I've never tried a bodysuit, but I can't imagine I could wear it. I have to go to the bathroom too often to make that work :) I love the style of this and your t-shirts though. Looks like they would be very flattering with the neckline and fitted lines. Good find buying them early!

The Royal Robbins was delivered today and the one in the old style didn't work, but a different style did and it has an adjustable waist. Always a plus. The dark gray was on clearance. So, I'll keep that to get me through while I look for some other ones. This new style is much shorter than the one I had previously, so they are not quite as versatile. But the skort does make them handy. I don't think I own a pair of shorts!

I bought several things for our SL/Maldives trip and wore very little of it. It was very hot along the coast and I just wanted something comfy there. Up in the hills the weather was absolutely ideal but there was really no need to dress up, we had these small hotels/plantantions almost to ourselves, and in one case, literally. Then in the Maldives, no one even wore shoes, let alone dressed up. Bathing suits, coverups, and bad hair ruled.

I did buy a new Maxi for hot weather from Tuckernuck. It was in fact comfy, but it made me look like a walking mattress. Next time I will belt it.

FP has a lot of maxis! I will go look. BTW, Chicos has nice 3/4 scoop neck tees. Maybe you can ask to have them ship it in a plain brown wrapper though. Word is if you get a package from Chico's, AARP buys your address from them.🤣

I am watching Emily in Paris (after having resisted it for being too junky) and it is a gulity pleasure. She was wearing this very cool crochet top which I then had to source. Found this great website, albeit most of their stuff is for people far more fabulous than I. But still, great fun.

@legomom23 I'm actually relieved to hear that I'm not the only person who refuses to try a bodysuit due to the bathroom accessibility. Seems frustrating.

LOL Mtn! Chicos and My Beachy Side are definitely two ends the spectrum! I like some of the bags at MBS but I don't need a bag ... repeating to self: I don't need a bag ... I don't need a bag!

Let me know if you find anything else at FP!

Bodysuits aren't my jam either, Pricky & Legomom... but I do like the style of top!

I love that white shirtdress with the pleated skirt at Beachy,

lol! I sure hope you don't both show up to a Longwood meetup wearing the same shorts .. that would be embarrassing!

Funky: I looked up the bodysuit and it’s a THONG style! I am not sure I am ready for that. I do appreciate the streamlined look the bodysuit can offer, but sometimes they can go Kardashian.

I've just ordered these 3/4 sleeve tees on sale from LaRedoute. They haven't arrived yet, but I am hopeful they will be a staple. I bought both navy and white. https://www.laredoute.com/ppdp/prod-350295464.aspx#searchkeyword=short%20sleeve%20navy%20t%20shirt&shoppingtool=search

I've been hooked on Alyssa Beltempo's youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU8ssMY0rZQtCgWVwQNpmUA

She is Canadian so many of her suggestions work for my climate and her heritage is Italian so she spends a lot of time in Europe and her style suits me very well - sort of classic with a bit of young edge to it. She also is focused on slow fashion so not pushing viewers to buy lots, just a few classic pieces.

I'm surprised you got the shorts too because I would think they would be all sold out based on all the college students here wearing them in January also.

Good choice, Sue! I am in love with two other items, thought I admit the shorts are tempting,

Really tempted to buy this for a DD

And this is so pretty even if it does look like lingerie
