Bathroom Floor Issue

Howdy guys! Had a couple of questions - so we recently noticed this, what we believe is water damage, either from the toilet or the shower (we think from the shower since it was leaking water in the corner there and it took us awhile to catch it since it's so dark). We were wondering who we would contact to fix an issue like this? General contractor, plumber?

Also, do you think it's a possible mold issue like we do? We've tried to remove the discoloration and nothing works so I guess it's either in the flooring itself or beneath it?

The photo with the dark spot is by the corner of the shower, the other photo shows where the floor is 'moldable' and you can leave an indent with your finger.

Help please!

Hi

I would also suspect water damage. If you look at your wood (?) post by the shower it appears to show signs of damage. Also, are you sure the floor is tile and not a different material? The indent would suggest it’s not tile IMO.

@Jennifer Svensson Oh yes forgot to mention that, it does look like water damage on the bottom of that post too. We did have water coming out of the shower in that corner but then we caulked it. Also forgive my ignorance when it comes to materials, ha! I just meant tile as in flooring, I'm guessing it's some kind of vinyl maybe? This is our first house and I'm very new to any remodeling.

@User So we can actually see beneath everything since we have a basement - the subfloor still looks fine (at least from the very bottom/visible portion of the floor). Would you recommend contacting just a general contractor for this? That was our thought. You'd think a general contractor wouldn't have an issue fixing the floor or pulling up the sink and toilet

Caulk is not stopping a water leak like that. You need to do some serious selective demo. You have a serious water issue and it is not new. The sooner the better on the selective demo.
