I would remove the TV and replace with a large striking piece of art. I would remove the fan screen and replace with simple andirons with white birch logs (if you don't use the FP)

Replace your current items with fewer but larger pieces on mantel. Move the planter currently to the left of fireplace to the hearth

Cute room, and I think the fireplace looks great as is. It gives you a nice canvas for accessories; if you like vintage, I'm guessing you have some good stuff to display. The only thing that jumps out are the lights in the ceiling. Could those be swapped to white cans? And if you move the TV, would it be in front of the window?

I would not move tv in front of the window but I would paint the wall above the mantle the same color as the walls.

I like the fireplace as is. Hard to provide any more suggestions without seeing the entire room. The FP seems to fit the Craftsman style perfectly. I'm not crazy about the brass fan screen. I'm all for eclectic but that screen doesn't work IMO.

What a great room! Love all the natural light -I can't imagine blocking a lovely window with the TV A few ideas:

- a Frame TV over the fireplace (see pic below)

- replacing the lights with something more streamlined

- agree with removing the brass fan and replacing with birch logs - if you use the FP a more modern screen could clean up the look a bit

- I think you need some inspiration for decorating the mantle - I have a similar set-up/love vintage and have done everything from super minimal (a pile of bleached antler sheds) to a more maximalist approach (a collection of green McCoy pottery) -- so wondering if you just need to play around a bit and see what you like?

Love my Samsung Frame TV , I bought the frame for it, it would be good there, plus , i agree with painting wall behind TV same as other walls,.

It's the area above the mantle that needs help. it's blah.

some millwork. any type of wood trim work would look a lot better. (I'd also lose those two lights and get a nice ceiling lights)

with the tv, this one just has simple shiplap and a wood mantle

here's that trim work I mentioned. you could frame the area around your tv.

Although I like the idea of adding white birch logs, this is a direct vent gas fireplace, so it is unlikely you can change the logs as they come with their own proprietary burner and log setup. You'd need to check with the fireplace manufacturer to see if they have any log options. Usually the do not.

oh my goodness!! These are SUCH awesome suggestions. Im so glad I asked. I love all the looks, especially the shots from Beth H, but then wouldn’t know where to put tv and it’s our comfiest tv watching couch so we want to have it in there somewhere. conundrum.

U can keep the tv there if u like. Any of the photos I showed u can be done with the tv. Try putting up some trim work above the mantle. Or paint. Or try a diff mantle altogether. Plus the light option.
