I might add sconce type decor on each side of the mirror… leaving the top empty at each end for anything you may wish to set there temporarily upon entry.. handbag?.. grocery or shopping bag?… gloves, etc… if the finish on the top is even a little delicate a protective non-slip runner would also be a good idea

I might also increase the size of the rug… to reach the length of the console…to visually increase the size of the foyer ….

Try rotating the existing rug .. this may work..?

If that is a bench on the other side … the right size basket/s (?) beneath can be a spot for shoes?

For the mirror, how big should i go? console is 67” long and current mirror is 34”. I plan to cover the shoe bench in a different fabric once everything else is set. I love the rug because it’s a perfect match to the console color, but i wish it came in round or square because it looks awkward! I’ve turned it the other way but was told it looked better horizontal.

I like your rug! Very nice entry. I would find two pices of art and stack them on top of one another in place of the mirror. It looks good as is. However, I think adding something taller would be lovely.

You could have something 45-48" wide. You can find mirrors that are 36 X 42 or 48." Be careful to hang something that large securely because it will be heavy. Regular picture hangers won't be strong enough. Use wall anchor screws.

I would think about a smaller lamp on the left, a tray in the middle & a taller vase ( 14” + ) on the right. I like a lighted entry table rather than lighting from the ceiling. BTW, I like a mirror in the entry ( I know some don’t ) just to check myself on the way out.

Your entry looks very nice but I do agree that something needs to be more substantial. It could be the items on the console if not the wall decor.
