The space seems dim and cold. A couple ideas to make the space more inviting:

--Look for a beautiful fairly wide rug that will create a "pathway" effect into your living room. Check estate sales for an oversize rug that has a bit of the floor color as a background color but much brighter, colorful pattern.

--Anchor an antique round table in the center. You could also divide that wide hall into two zones with two elegant rugs with a round table anchored in the middle on one rug and the other a runner.

--If you entertain a lot, move the rectangular console table to where the sofa is with the sofa opposite..Turn that table into an elegant bar with silver ice bucket, vintage glasses, etc. This will create a place for guests to gather if they spill over from the living room.

--A little off topic and not sure if these are layout options that will improve flow and light from the living room to the hall. If you can, move the right side sofa to left. That opens up a big pathway into the living room . Or have both sofas facing each other, so the windows are entirely opened up to both living room and hallway.

I would go with nice mirror above the console table and big wall art above bench plus rug or runner.

^^ agree with these suggestions - it is a large space and the tall ceilings give it a lot of volume - you are going to have to be careful with scale as a lot of items will look undersized and fussy. When in doubt go larger -

Great suggestions! Thanks. I found this idea online. How would this look where the bench is

My impression is this hallway is very long & wide - will you please list length x width of each section? My initial thought is that each section of hallway should be treated as separate ’rooms’. First room - entry foyer - looks like another hallway off of it. Without knowing dimensions of any of the spaces here’s my thoughts. Move bench to foyer / entry hall - maybe under item on wall. Is there a ceiling light? If yes, change to a hanging light similar to the one in 3rd section from entry. Add an area rug with lots of color & as large as will fit space. Center section - change console to a much longer cabinet style & hang a large piece of art. Don’t know what’s down that hallway but it’d be great to see the art from there. The last hallway with the mirrored wall - I think two chairs, a table between & another piece of large art on the wall. Add an area rug in this space too - maybe same as what’s at entry. I like @housegal200 idea of moving the sofas to create an open walkway & connection to that seating space.

I would switch the chairs and the sofa in your family room, so you are opening up the view through the space. It looks off with the back of the sofa blocking half of the hallway.

You need to buy larger scale furniture, decor and art for the hallway.
