Master Suite Remodel Layout Help!

Hi,

Looking for any & all advise/ideas! We recently moved into a new to us home; most of the house except the master had already been updated. Currently we are exploring our options to update this area. The bathroom is the original...doesn't look like it has been touched since the 80's, definitely a total gut job. The closet situation is not ideal; currently it is 2 smaller reach-in's with one being on the roof slope/angle, so really not ideal for hanging anything; I would love to add a walk in somewhere if possible. The issue is our house has a very different layout. Our master bedroom is primarily over our garage, with the attached bathroom being over an area that connects the garage area to the main house, with this there are many different angles we are trying to work with. I have attached the current layout, though even that doesn't do a great job displaying all the angles/obstacles we are working with!

I have read your post a couple times, and it sounds as if the bathroom is over a breezeway between the house and the garage. Is there any way to enlarge the breezeway so that you could have a larger bathroom above it? As for the closets, is there any way you could relocate them to the other end of the bedroom, meaning the 5'6" x 24' area across (and above) the bottom edge of the garage space you have drawn? Then, on the side with walls that flank the balcony, would you be able to add windows with built-in storage chests under them? I hope I have understood your illustration correctly and that my suggestions can work for you.

You need to add more measurements, How long and how deep is the existing bathroom? How bid and exactly where is the window and doorways in the bedroom. I s that a closet on the bottom left side?

Are you in a cold climate and can plumbing be moved

Unfortunately, that area is not able to be enlarged on the other side of it is the main portion of our house, so there is nowhere for us to expand to. I have updated the original post with a few more measurements as requested. That area you spoke of as potential closet space, has the roof line so we can't stand upright to utilize it as a closet; I have considered possibly adding a bump out to that area to utilize for a closet space, however my husband would like to avoid messing with the roof line if possible.

I do like the idea of a built-in chests or drawers' fir that area! I hadn't considered that so will definitely keep that in mind! Thank you!

I added a few more measurements to the original post as requested. Yes we are in a cold climate, New England so anything goes! In terms of plumbing, we are open to considering moving if it will increase the functionality of our space!

You haven't received very many replies, which perhaps means there's no really good solution. I would consider turning the bath into the walk-in closet and putting built-in drawers with shelves above where the closed off crawl space. This would create a dressing area in the upper left corner. Then put the bath in the upper right corner, up to the edge of the balcony and the window. You don't say what you need in the bath, but the space available would be about 9 ft. square and perhaps big enough for your needs, and it could be longer if you forego the balcony. The plumbing might be an issue over the unheated space and would have to be carefully worked out.

You do have some unusual walls in the bathroom, although it looks large.

Your measurements are helpful, but I still have no idea if the following layout would work for you.

Sorry I am not great with tertminology....I'm guessing that would be the wall prior to the crawl space, before it begins to slant? If so that would be 5' 4"
