Wolf Appliance selection/design questions

This is a "would you do this differently" question.

Currently settled on Wolf appliances for kitchen update.

Here's our short list:

1. Wolf 30in M Series Pro Built-In Double Oven (for convection)

2. Wolf 36in Gas Range - 6 Burner Cooktop

3. Wolf 30in M Series Professional Drop-Down Door Microwave

Thinking here is I don't need dual-fuel range with the built-in double ovens, which are convection. I realize I could swap the range for a cooktop, but I really want a 3rd oven. We entertain regularly.

Should I swap the microwave for a speed oven? Really need a microwave.

FWIW, we currently have a 30in built-in dual oven (top convection) and a 36in 5-burner gas cooktop.

Any advice or guidance here is appreciated. Need to make a decision fairly soon and get things on order. Thanks for your time!

I'd look at replacing the microwave with either a speed oven or a steam oven. A speed oven has microwave capabilities but also works as a convection oven. I hear good things, too, about the Miele steam oven.

The new Wolf ranges have quite poor burners. If you cook/entertain a lot I'd look at a Bluestar RNB instead. Much better to cook on.

The M-series are OK but the Miele are a step up.

Agree w/ @Sabrina Alfin Interiors on the MW. We have a GE Advantium fast bake and a Miele XXL steam. The steam gets used almost every day. Fast bake frequently though more for the fast bake than the MW.

I never buy all appliances form one maker. IMO Wolf is both over priced and over rated. I think Bosh still makes the best DWS amand if tou have a range do you need wall ovens and if so check out all the optins avaiable now for extra ovens . A good appliance store ideally one that does demos on the weekend is a good place to start. That good appliance store will give you a good deal for whatever appliances you buy they do not have to all be from one maker . BTW there is no one maker that makes everything well.

I agree with Sabrina to consider steam capabiities in your purchase. I am researching appliances as well and I am interested in the Wolf convection/steam oven. They also have a speed oven that has convection, steam and microwave capabilities. Thanks too, to the other on their comments about the Mieles.

In CR's testing, the 30" Wolf GR304 did not perform well so if you're considering the 36" Wolf GR366 and it is similar you might want to consider something else. The 30" Monogram ZGP304NTSS was the best of the tested "pro-style" gas ranges so you might want to consider the 36" Monogram ZGP366NTSS or Cafe CGY366P2TS1. GE, Profile, Cafe, and Monogram are all GE Appliance brands.

CR also tested single and double-wall ovens ($10/month digital).

At 900 watts, the Wolf 30" M Series Professional Drop-Down Door Microwave Oven has less power than most other 30" built-in microwave ovens.
