Fail to mention, I have shaker cabinets

I would mock it up to see what you like best. I have various-size drawers (14.5" - 26") and went with all 4.5" pulls (4" on center) on everything because I like the way it looked in my small kitchen. I mocked up the whole kitchen with cardboard cutouts in the same color as the hardware. I attached the cardboard to the cabinets with rolled painters tape and then I lived with it for a day or two. I knew about the 1/3 rule, but I did not think that looked right in my space. There are so many variables to consider, like how many drawers, layout of the kitchen, color and style of hardware, size of hardware and where you want the hardware to be attached. That's why you need to mock it up. Other people are talented and do not need to see a visual, but I'm not one of those people.

Thank you for your responses. Very helpful! Starting to go a little cross eyed with all these handles.

I've been struggling with this as well! I have purchased and returned so many pulls lately. We will have a wall that has 24"-36" drawers and I'm leaning toward doing 8" pulls on those. Considered 12" for the 30 and 36, but they would have to be an appliance pull and the cost is $95 each. Nope...8" will be just fine lol. On our perimeter and island we will have 18"-30" drawers and I'm leaning toward 6" for those. And then 6" for all cabinet doors and 8" for pantry doors. I find it ridiculous that I'm stressing about cabinet pulls when our current pulls are 4" and have worked just fine haha! Good luck with your decision!

FYI - TopKnobs has lots of 12" pulls that are not appliance pulls.

I'd go larger if you want a more contemporary look, and smaller if you want a more traditional look. For example, you could go with 4" pulls on most of the doors/drawers, and double them up (one on each side) for very wide drawers.

Thanks @chispa. I wanted Top Knobs (love the ascendra pull we used in our bathroom), but I'm wanting a brushed gold color. I wasn't a fan of their honey bronze color.
