PAINT FOR BUILT IN

I need help selecting a paint color for my 8 year old daughter’s room. She is still young but would like to choose something that would last into her teenage years. Her room has a boho feel, walls are currently snowbound and carpet is white. Ive included a picture of the blanket on her bed- other than that, she has white bedding

I am considering a warm greige with gold hardware, a warm white (might be too much with white carpet and white-ish walls or the pink color of the state of Texas in the piece of art. I am going to add a faux Roman and a bench cushion.

Help!!! TIA!!!

IMO ask her what her faveorite color is and do just the back wall of the cabinet that way when the new color next year comes along you just need to paint on small part. Or does asuugested aboove and removeable wall paper. There is no color in my experience that will stay loved until her teens.I always try to do what the child loves for their space and it can change often. That is why you keep the walls neutral use bedding for a change and I a;ways .like a huge cork board for stuff even with laptops there are always things or pics to save on the board.

Do a lighter tone of the sage green that's in the Texas poster.. It will look really pretty with her bedding and is sophisticated enough to take her through her teen years. Benjamin Moore's Saybrook Sage is very nice:

Love the poster (fellow Texan here). :)

If you decide on pink, one that might work is SW Rosaline Pearl. Of course you’d need to sample it next to the Snowbound.

It’s listed as a dupe of a great Farrow & Ball pink, Sulking Room Pink.

This is Sulking Room Pink, very similar tone:

I say have fun with it, it’s just paint!

If you want to go "pink", know that the color you actually want is probably not going to be very pink. (meaning: avoid blue undertones and look at warmer shades that are less saturated.) I made that mistake when I wanted to paint my office. All of the colors I chose at first wound up looking way too girly.

The color from the background of that Texas artwork is more like dusty peach. The color from the artwork below is a pale rosy brown.

Jilly nailed it again with her inspo pics above.

I love those F&B pinks! And, as the mother of a now-grown daughter, the idea of painting her bedroom “Sulking Room Pink” made me lol. As for F&B paints, I used them recently and was absolutely wowed by the quality of the colors-although you may want a more scrubbable paint in this case.

Since we’re all loving the pinks, just wanted to share another great F & B one: Setting Plaster. It’s such an awesome color. It has all these great changes in different lights.

There are so many examples of it all over the internet.

(Only sharing for fun, and if anyone is looking for a wonderful neutral pink … not suggesting it for the built-ins):

I saved the best for last … how fabulous is this! Setting Plaster with Rose Aurora marble:

My apologies, ginny, for veering off-topic!

Patricia's advice is spot on. Spend money on less expensive items you can change that will give her big bangs of color as she changes her tastes. If you are looking for a very lovely warm white I'd try Farrow and Ball Dimity. I have it in my bedroom and it is utterly relaxing and enveloping. It is a neutral color with so much warmth that shines through. No pic I can post of it will do justice.

@jilly! Wanted to give you an update! Painted my daughter’s built in the SW, Rosaline Pearl! I LOVE it! I still have to accessorize it, and my daughter has accessorized it with squishmallows in the meantime. It is gorgeous!
