Did you ever get a clear I.D.? They look like mosquito larvae to me. Are they in a film of water?

Oh, I see. Boy, was I seeing the scale wrong. I thought I was looking at the top of a large storage tote. So they aren't mosquito larvae. Seems they'd have to be something that flew or hopped and landed. Nothing that crawled or swam.
