The screen of columns is clever but too few relative to the height, I would double the number so it starts to be a screen. I think it will make the dining room feel more special too

I agree that divider wall needs to be wider to look right . I would also do double the width if possible . I love the idea BTW IMO though this will work best in a contemporary style

Thank you all for the feedback! Seems like the consensus is to go with the divider screen wall versus wrapped single column which is my husbands preference. Here is another view with column in island in case the gives another perspective.

Yes that is another column in the island, unfortunately. Our preference is also no columns at all and we deliberated for 5 years on what to do with our layout and the columns. The feasibility, logistics, and costs were too prohibitive for us here in Miami where construction costs have soared. This was the best compromise and we are doing our best to make it work and finally be done! :)

This space needs delineation, the screen wall will be a blessing.

With the screen, it would be nice if it could relate to design lines of the island and circulation through the "barn" door.
