I do not think a foosball table needs a chandelier at all so just pot lights if that is staying there . I am a bit confused as to the use of the basement ? Since it looks like a living space but no DR.

I would also make it just with pot lights. Looks like an awesome basement hang out

@Patricia - There was supposed to be a dining table where the foosball table is now. The island had to be pushed towards the windows so I didn’t have enough space. Thanks for the advice. Do I just cover the electrical for the chandelier then?

Agreed, no chandelier over the foozeball. The three globes are a real focal point and you don't need another chandelier in competition with them.

Surfboard looks cool just not sure it goes with the decor. My main problem with switching to a can light is that I don’t like using can lights. They’re really just there for cleaning etc. Is there something else I can put there that won’t compete with the globes over the island?

Well yes, the foosball table doesn’t go with the decor either. Can we assume that the foosball table will go away in a couple years? If so, I would pick a light fixture based on what you’re going to use that area for then.
I think that area would be perfect for a card table with four comfy chairs. A recessed can would not cut it in that case.

It can easily be changed then too. Or can stay. We have a table and four chairs in the rec room and a can overhead. I never once thought to change it out for anything else
